Hi guys,
So I had previously mentioned that I had been given the Osmosis Tropical Mango mask to try out. I mentioned it in my Rescue serum review here
I had briefly mentioned in that review that I had used it a little too much when I first got it and my skin went a little crazy! However, that was totally my fault.. you’ll read why further on.
This mask is super hydrating and it smells divine! This is what it says on the website.
“The combination of nut and fruit butters and oils nourishes, hydrates, and restores the skin’s lipid barrier. With ingredients rich in vitamins, minerals and anti-inflammatory properties skin is soothed and replenished.”
The ingredients are: Water (Aqua), Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Arachidyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate, Palmitic Acid, Mangifera Indica (Mango) Seed Butter, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Glycerin, Glyceryl Caprylate, Hydroxypropyl Starch Phosphate, Behenyl Alcohol, Arachidyl Glucoside, Astrocaryum Murumuru Seed Butter, Fucus Vesiculosus Extract, Mangifera Indica (Mango) Fruit, Hippophae Rhamnoides Fruit Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Xanthan Gum, Lecithin, Glyceryl Undecylenate, Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492), Beta- Carotene.
This mask is suitable for everyone and it is oncology friendly, which is great!
Now lets go back to when I first started using it. I was kindly given a bit of the mask to try and I had a good few applications in it. I was informed that I could use it as an overnight mask. I had always been intrigued by overnight masks and always wanted to try one, so I was excited!
So that night I applied it immediately! I woke up the next morning and oh my gosh! My skin felt super soft and super hydrated! I didn’t want to wash my skin that morning but, of course, I did! I loved how my skin felt so I decided to apply it again the next night and the next night..
I learned that when applying a mask with active ingredients in it three nights in a row, it might make your skin go “Wait a second, what is this!” I found that, for me, the active ingredients were too much and that is why my skin decided to freak out. I think I had a bit of an allergic reaction, as well as skin purging. Skin purging is:
“Purging is defined as a worsening of your current skin condition. It’s really an accelerated rate of exfoliation brought on by an active ingredient that is doing its job. This means that if you have clogged pores, they may turn into pimples and active acne. If you have small pimples, they may turn into larger ones.”
That was what happened to me and I hope you can learn from my stupidity! Just to note that at the time I was trying out a few new products like the Rescue serum as well as Quench, which is their moisturiser and that contains hyaluronic acid (I think I might be sensitive to it-maybe).
Anyways, so like I said above my skin did go through a bad time for a bit because of me, stupidly, using the mask three nights in a row! With active ingredients you do need to take it slow! I’m one to kind of go all gun-ho about things which isn’t good. I learned my lesson though!
Please see images below. You can see where my skin was affected the most. It seems like my cheeks and nose were the ones to get the worst of it and a little bit on my forehead..that is because it is where I get most of my spots. However now that I know all that, I can honestly say I’m glad I learned that lesson! Also I have to note that Cáit and Aisling from Skin 26 were so kind and helpful when I was going through it and also advised me to go slow with it. So thank you girls!

As you can see from the last image, my skin cleared up nicely. It’s still not 100% clear right now but it is getting there! I’m using the same skincare products and I have been using the mask twice a week instead of three nights in a row! I actually let my partner use it too and he has dry, sensitive skin. He absolutely loves it because it gives his skin that instant hydration.
This is me now with no make up. I’ve actually been wearing no make up for over a month and I am loving it! It’s so nice to not have to wear anything on your face apart from a little concealer under the eyes and on a few blemishes that I still have. I really owe my skin being this good to the Osmosis Skincare line..don’t know what I’d do without it to be honest! You can buy Osmosis from their online store here or in Skin26, which is located on 60 Catherine Street.
Actually I will be updating my skincare post soon to show you a new product, which you may know about already from my Instagram, (Follow me here for more outfit and skincare faves), that I have been using and believe it has been very beneficial for my sin! Stay tuned ✌🏽
This is not sponsored, all views are my own. I received a sample of the mask and purchased it myself after.
